Qube Global Software Sponsors CoreNet Hackathon 2017 | 11 September 2017
It was very exciting to be part of the CoreNet Global Australia 2017 Hackathon in Melbourne last week.
From early Monday morning at the briefing located at the Telstra building in the heart of Melbourne, there was already a huge buzz. Teams began forming in order to provide a solution to the 3 problem statements around Productivity, Efficiency and Safety.
Each team had three participants:
- The Hacker – Coder
- The Hustler – Sales
- The Hipster – Designer
A total of 13 teams were formed and began hacking from 10am, and within a short amount of time there was a huge amount of energy, ideas and innovation already being created. I have never seen or experienced such a huge amount of activity and concepts being generated. It was awesome and exciting to watch.
The 13 teams continued to hack late into the night on Monday and then began again first thing Tuesday morning with a hard stop at 2.15pm when each team presented to the judges. Following this, the judges deliberated until 5pm to decide upon a winner from each category – Productivity, Efficiency and Safety (each winning $2000).
The final 3 presented to 350 delegates at the CoreNet Global National Conference being held at the Sofitel Hotel, where the delegates voted live for a winner to take home an additional $4000!
The final three were:
- Productivity – Team 9 – MyHalo
- Efficiency – Team 13 – Spacematch
- Safety – Team 10 – Exodus – (Sponsored by Qube Global Software – Problem Statement category winner)
The overall winner was Team 9 “Myhalo” for Productivity with our problem statement winner, Exodus, coming third.
Both Mike Dennehy and I had a great time mentoring teams and I enjoyed judging the final pitch. I look forward to being involved in any future industry related Hackathons.
